Post 59: AGI: Totalitarians vs. the People

Part 3 of the AGI is happening tomorrow series

This part of the conversation starts with another undesirable scenario. How an authoritarian regime might harness AGI to control its populous. I remember years ago hearing about how the East German secret police, the Stasi, tried to get “smell-samples” for every person in their country. Certainly a bizarre idea, but it just shows to what lengths a government bent on total control of its population will go. The Stasi would be salivating over what it could do with today’s technology, not to mention what it could do with AGI.

We then move on to a brief discussion of what more democratic usage could look like. This is a topic that we will need to revisit later for certain.
