This is an interesting look at one of the most prominent early cases of harnessing of AI in the guise of a neutral but interested chatbot to the ultimate end of directing the user toward profit for the parent company. Sadly, I'm sure this is going to be the far more common chatbot model as we sink further into the era of profit-oriented chatbots.
Yeah. . . this disgusts me right now. I suppose in a few years though it will seem so normal we won't even notice. . . sigh. I do hope though that models remain that don't do this. There is a lot of value in a model that is neutral.
